Hankins-Lawrence Images is pleased to offer prints, notecards, and other items featuring the work of Patty Hankins and Bill Lawrence. Patty and Bill are photographers living in Bethesda, MD, who take advantage of the wide variety of historic and scenic opportunities in the Washington, DC area - including the monuments in the Capitol area, animals at the National Zoo, flowers at Brookside Gardens and scenic landscapes from nearby National Parks. Additional photos are from our travel to New England, the Southwest, Florida and the Caribbean, including some underwater images. We offer the following products:
Just as we strive for excellence in our photography, we work hard to ensure that our prints are of the highest quality. Hankins-Lawrence Images prints are printed on Epson Enhanced Matte Paper on either on Epson 2200 or Epson 4800 archival quality printer. We have found these combinations to provide long-lasting prints that reflect the subtle tonalities seen in all of our images, and the rich gamut of colors seen in our color images. According to Wilhelm Imaging Research, these combinations of printers and inks have an expected print life of 64 years assuming the print is behind glass. Patty and Bill have found this combination of paper and ink to produce the finest images on quality prints that will last a lifetime.
Prints are matted to fit standard frame sizes of 8x10, 11x14, 16x20, or 18x24. Both the print and the mat are signed by the photographer.
We take care in mounting and matting our prints. Prints are mounted on acid-free backing boards with archival mounting corners - no adhesive of any sort is in contact with the print. The acid-free mat is attached to the backing board with acid-free hinging tape. Prints are stored in clear bags to protect them until framed. All prints are carefully packed for shipping.
Prints are matted in either black or white mats - the specific mat color is chosen to best display the photograph. Matting examples are shown below, and the mat color is specified on the order link on the photo's gallery page.

Buying prints on the web: Buying art over the internet can be a challenge. Here at Hankins-Lawrence Images, we work hard to produce a quality print that reflects the mood of the scene when we tripped the shutter on the camera to make the photograph. Notes on framing prints: Our prints are matted to standard frame sizes - frames should be available in any quality art and craft or framing store. Look for frames where the photo is inserted from the back of the frame rather than those that slip the photo in from the side (many of these don't have enough room for the thickness of a mat).
If you live in the Metropolitan DC area, we can custom frame your prints. Please contact us for further information on prices, frames, etc. Unfortunately, the difficulty in packing and shipping glass makes us unable to offer framing unless you can pick up the frame in person.
Hankins-Lawrence Images offers 5x7" notecards, printed on Red River Polar Matte paper on an Epson 2200 archival quality printer. According to the paper manufacturer, this combination of paper and ink have an expected print life of 48 years assuming the card is not behind glass (80 years if the card is protected by glass). We have found the the Polar Matte paper to be a good heavy weight bright white paper that is ideal for displaying photographs, and is pleasing writing material for a notecard.
Notecards are printed on 7"x10" paper, folded in half - resulting in a display area of 5"x7". A 4"x5" or 4"x6" print is centered on the page. Each card is signed by the photographer.
Each notecard comes with a white envelope - and card and envelope are protected in a clear bag.

We have select photos available on a variety of apparel and products such as mousepads, available at our CafePress Store. CafePress does an excellent job with printing, and we have found their customer service to be excellent. In our galleries, those photographs which can be printed on a shirt or other item at CafePress will have a link to the appropriate items at our CafePress Store.
