Photo Spot: The DC Skyline from the U.S.M.C. Memorial
by Patty Hankins & Bill Lawrence
One of the best views of the monuments and skyline of Washington, DC is in Arlington, Virginia at the United States Marine Corps Memorial – also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial. From the memorial grounds, there is a wonderful view of the Lincoln Monument, the Washington Monument and the Capitol building. At night, the view is spectacular, not only of the DC Skyline, but also of the Marine Memorial statue of the marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima.
The U.S.M.C. Memorial is located on Marshall Drive in Arlington, Virginia, adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery. The site is administered by the National Park Service and is open 24 hours a day. There is no admission fee for visiting this Memorial. Information about the Memorial is on the National Park Service website at http://www.nps.gov/gwmp/usmc.htm
The following two photos are from our Washington, DC Gallery. Here's a photo of the memorial at night.

In addition to the photographic opportunities of the memorial, it has a great view of the DC skyline. Here is one of Patty's photos of the DC skyline, taken from the grounds of the memorial.
