Patty and Bill's Excellent Alaska Adventure (Or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation) Our last full day on the ship started in Skagway. Skagway is a gold rush town - complete with old buildings, railroads and townspeople dressed as historic people. We don't have any photos from Skagway itself - while the town was picturesque, there were passengers from several large cruise ships in town, so getting good photos was challenging. We did spot this waterfall on our way into Skagway.
In Haines, we went on our second optional excursion - a jet boat ride in the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. We hoped to see lots of bald eagles - unfortunately we only saw a few and they were a challenge to photograph.
One highlight of this excursion was seeing a flock of trumpeter swans.
After leaving Haines, we headed to Juneau. Juneau We hit our only really bad weather of the trip in Juneau. It rained heavily all day. In fact, the rain was so heavy, we never even took the cameras out of their cases. So no photos from Juneau. However, we did find a place to great spectacular smoked salmon - Taku Smoked Salmon - and a wonderful seafood restaurant right next store - the Twisted Fish Company Alaskan Grill. If you're ever in Juneau - check them out. We hope you've enjoyed our photos from our Alaskan Cruise. If you are looking to take an Alaskan Cruise and do some nature photography at the same time, we can really recommend cruising with Cruise West. Other Pages of Photos from our Cruise Ketchikan, Hyder, Petersburg, Tracy Arm, Frederick Sound, Sitka and Glacier Bay
